communities got into disputes on certain issues like sanitary problem, electricity, etc. They

used to quarrel with each other. But, in both blocks, one thing was common Ali and Ram.
Ali and Ram were kids of around 14 years of age and were fast friends. They often shared
their festivals and visited each other’s house. After few days, Ali’s festival ‘Ramzaan’ came,

Ram greeted him with full enthusiasm and honour. Ali invited him for “Roja-iftar” party in
which fast is broken by taking some meals. Ram attended the party and felt honoured.

Some days later, Diwali came and Ali visited Ram. He burned some fire crackers with
Ram. He also ate some sweets and got the blessings of his parents.
After few days, a little dispute turned into a big quarrel between both the communities.

Both parties were fighting with each other. Suddenly, Ram came across the Muslims and
said, “I don’t know why you fight. I always participate in your Ramzaan, Eid and other
             festivals.”

Ali also came across the Hindus and said, “I always celebrate Diwali, Holi and share your
sweets and crackers, still you fight.” “Kill both of us before you fight,” they said jointly.
People of both the groups realised the deep meaning of the words from two innocent
children. After realising their mistake they hugged each other, apologised for their
mistakes and pledged never to fight with each other. After that the colony was named as

‘Ali Ram Nagar’. The absolute religion is truth and goodness.
Moral : We should always respect all religions.

Read how to develop a story from the given outlines.
A slave runs away from his cruel master — a lion in the forest — crying in pain — the
slave takes out a thorn from his feet — a few months later — the slave caught by his

master’s men — ordered to be thrown before a hungry lion — the lion rushes at him —
remembers his owing kindness — the slave and the lion set at liberty.

                                                  3. The Lion and the Slave

A slave runs away from his cruel master who makes him slog endlessly at work. After
running for many days, he reaches a forest and takes rest under the huge rock. He dozes
off, but is awakened by the sound of a lion’s roar. Frightened he opens his eyes, but is

unable to see the lion. He looks around and hears the roar once again. It was coming
from behind the rock that he slept under. Cautiously, he looks around and finds the lion
lying behind the rock. As he looks into the eyes of the lion, he sees pain. He knows what
pain is, because he has been subjected to it all his life. He stands and observes, fearful
but firm and realises that the lion’s foot is the problem. He moves closer and sees a thorn
stuck in the lion’s foot. Slowly, he pulls it out and the lion gives a grateful roar.
