3.  A Cricket Match


             Cricket is played on a large oval-shaped ground. Each team comprises of eleven
             players. After the toss, players of one team go for batting and players of the other
             team  bowl  in  turn.  Also,  there  are  fielders  who  stop  balls  and  return  it  to  the

             bowler. The batsman starts batting and defend the deliveries of the bowlers. The
             captains of both the teams play significant role in the game. There are two umpires
             whose opinion and decisions are to be accepted by the players of both the teams.

             Excellent  team  spirit  and  sense  of  discipline  can  be  developed  by  joining  and
             practicing this game. This game is regarded as a valuable and dignified game.

                                                       4.  Republic Day

             Republic Day is celebrated in India on 26  of January every year. It is a National
             Holiday. In the morning, there is a flag hoisting ceremony to commemorate our
             freedom. It is because of the freedom fighters that we are enjoying our freedom

             today. Various speakers urge the people to remain united and respect their country.
             The programme comes to an end when everyone stands up to sing the National
             Anthem.


                                                5.  Problems of Population

             India  is  the  second  most  populated  country  in  the  world  after  China.  India’s
             present population is over one billion and it is a source of major problem for the
             entire country. The increasing population and fixed available land, poses a great

             housing problem. Land is also required to grow crops to feed the entire population.
             They need parks, playgrounds and swimming pools for their entertainment etc. Our

             country is today on the brink of population explosion and if the population growth
             is not checked, then no amount of progress will make any difference to the poverty
             that plagues the country.


                                                   6.  Importance of Trees

             Trees  are  beautiful  and  useful  gifts  of  nature.  Trees  are  great  friends  of  humans.
             Trees give us flowers, fruits, timber, bamboo, fuels etc. We can rest under the cool

             shade of  a tree. We get wood from the trees to make furniture, doors, windows
             etc. Trees are also a great source of materials like paper, rubber, gums, herbs and
             medicines. Forest brings clouds and cause rainfall. Trees prevent soil erosion. They
             protect  us  from  severe  weather.  Thus,  trees  plays  an  important  role  in  our  life.

             Felling of trees disturbs the eco-system. We should save trees.
