Cleaning of Water

Water in lakes, rivers and ponds is

not clean to drink. It contains dirt
and germs. Drinking dirty water

can cause many diseases. Water is
clean in waterworks before it is
supplied to our homes through

pipes. At home also, we should
use water filters or a water

purifier for safety to get pure

Clean water is very precious, it should be stored in clean and covered

containers. Pure water has no colour, smell or taste.
Shortage of Water

There is shortage of water due to the following reasons:

g Less rain fall

g Drying up of rivers

g Wastage of water

In some places, people have to walk miles to get water. At many places,
water is supplied for a limited time only. So, we should conserve water

and not waste it.
