C. Read the passage on Rhinoceros and answer the questions that follow.
The word rhinoceros comes from the Greek words rhino (nose) and ceros (horn). It
means ‘nose horn’. It is often shortened to rhino. There are five different species of
rhinoceros in the world. They are from Southern Asia and Africa. They are Black,
White, Indian, Javan and Sumatran rhinoceros. In India, rhinoceros are found only
in Kaziranga in Assam. The white rhino is the largest rhino species. The Black, Javan
and Sumatran rhinos are all endangered species which means they have chances of
becoming extinct in the coming times.
Rhinoceros are herbivorous animals. They use their teeth for defence and not their
horns. Their horns are made from a protein called Keratin, the same substance that
fingernails and hair are madeup of. Rhinoceros have thick sensitive skin. Their skin
is sensitive to sunburn and insect bites. Rhinos have poor eye-sight but very
