Moti : But .... I’m not particularly fond of gardening. Do you live in Rajpur all

                                   the time?
Rajkumar : Yes, I have a small place there, a house and a little farm that I look after.

Moti : A farmer? Oh! I thought you are a prince.

Rajkumar : You thought, I am a prince!

Moti : Well, never mind. My imagination gets a bit carried away sometimes.
But, don’t you find it boring to live in a small town like that?

Rajkumar : No, I quite enjoy it. Does that mean nothing? You aren’t interested in
me? Shall I tell your mother then that you aren’t interested in visiting
                                   your uncle in Rajpur?

Moti : Oh, she knows I hate small towns. Didn’t she tell you that?

             Rajkumar : No.

Moti : That’s funny. What is Amma up to? Where is she hiding?
(going out, calling out loudly as she leave) Ma! Ma!

Rajkumar smiles to himself in relief and sits down and picks up a magazine.

Amma : (coming in) Moti says she doesn’t think small towns are her cup of tea. I
thought that’s what she’d say. Now, my little Lambi will be just what
you’re looking for. Let me send her in.

Rajkumar : Well, if you think it’s a good idea.

Amma : She’s just the girl for you. Believe me. (goes out, calling)

Lambi, beta. Come here. Rajkumar wants to talk to you.
Mother’s voice goes off stage, talking in a whisper. Lambi comes in, wearing her newest and

             most fashionable clothes.

Lambi : Hi! Ma says you want to talk to me.
Rajkumar : Yes, well, I’m Rajkumar and I know your uncle.

Lambi : Yes, Ma told me.

Rajkumar : Do you know your uncle well?

Lambi : No, he left here a long time ago.
Rajkumar : Would you like to go to Rajpur and look him up?

Lambi : Ma said it might be a good idea to say yes.

             Rajkumar : Rajpur’s a small town....
