Subtraction of 2-Digit Numbers from 2-Digit Numbers
With Borrowing

Example : Subtract 64 from 82.

Step 1 : Digit on the ones place is the smaller
number. – 6 4
We cannot subtract a bigger number from a smaller 1 8
number.
Step 2 : Borrow one ten from the tens and add to
the ones place.
Step 3 : Subtract the ones. (10 + 2) – 4 = 12 – 4 = 8
Step 4 : Subtract the tens. (8 – 1) – 6 = 7 – 6 = 1
Therefore, 82 – 64 = 18
