conclusion to the essay. Remember, an essay should be a systematic treatment of a

subject and not a jumble in which anything can be put anywhere.
G When the final draft is prepared, the essay is edited and revised. Irrelevant points are
omitted. Any point which is missed out is added. Spellings and grammatical errors

are thoroughly cheeked.
G Divide the essay into paragraphs. Each paragraph should deal with only one idea and

should consist of sentences which are closely related to one another.
G An essay is written in a simple, concise, clear, direct and natural style.

Now, read the following essays.

1. If I were the Food Minister of India

India is an agricultural country and seventy-five percent of its population lives in villages.
They mainly depend on agriculture, but again it is the food problem in the country which

is acute. Even after so many years of independence we have been importing food items
from the rest of the world. We have worked on Green Revolution and White Revolution.
But, with what result? As Food Minister, I can see that our country is not self-sufficient in
the matter of food. More than fifty per cent people can not afford two square meals.

India produces plenty of foodgrains, but still its people have to stay hungry. I shall advise
the farmers to adopt better and more scientific methods of farming. In our country a lot
of food articles are wasted in marriages and other functions. I, as a man of authority, will
check this useless wastage. I will introduce rationing system. This will ensure plenty of
food for all. If I fail to solve this problem of India, my very purpose is defeated.

I shall check the prise rise. I shall develop more fair-price shops where the interest of the
consumer would be uppermost. I shall check black-marketing through law. I shall like to

see equal distribution. This is all I would do if I were the Food Minister of India.

2. Internet
Internet has brought a revolutionary change in the living and working style of human

beings. Thus, It is very beneficial to all for gaining knowledge as well as increase income
with less input of time and effort. It has the ability to provide information within no time
at one’s doorstep. Basically, Internet is a network of networks which connects various
computers all over the world. Nowadays, Internet has spread its effects in every nook and
corner all over the world. A telephone line, a computer and a modem are required to

have access to Internet.
It helps in getting worldwide information online from any place of the world. It helps in
gathering, collecting and storing information to our computer from the website on any
