5 Division
Looking Back
We use division, when we share equally. It is also called repeated subtraction .
Suppose you have 15 buttons. You have to stitch these buttons among 3
shirts equally.
15 shared equally by 3 is 5 each.
15 ÷ 3 = 5
Each shirt will have 5 buttons.
Look at the another example.
8 beads have to be put on 4 strings. How many beads on each string ?
8 ÷ 4 = 2
8 shared equally by 4 is 2 each.
In equal sharing, you know how Number of strings
many groups are there and can Total number Number of beads
find how many in each group. of beads on each string
