1. It is not possible to subtract 8 tens from 5 tens.

2. Borrow 1 hundred from the hundreds column.

3. 6H = 5H + 1H. Transfer 1 H to the tens place.

1H = 10 T. So, 1H + 5T = 15T.

Subtract 5 ones from 7 ones. 7 – 5 = 2.

Subtract 3 thousands from 5 thousands. 5 – 3 = 2.

Example : Subtract 3837 from 4256.
