i.e., count two digits from the right and put a point. Remove ‘p’ or ‘paise’

Converting Rupees into Paise

1. To convert rupees into paise, we multiply the amount of rupees by 100.

2. We know that 100 paise make one rupee.

1 rupee = 100 paise

4 rupees = 4 × 100 paise = 400 paise

15 rupees = 15 × 100 paise = 1500 paise

First method of converting rupees into paise

8 rupees 90 paise = 8 × 100 paise + 90 paise

= 800 paise + 90 paise

= 890 paise

To convert rupees into paise, we first multiply the amount of rupees by 100

and then add to it the number of paise.

Alternative Method

8 rupees 20 paise = ` 8.20 = 820 paise
