Multiplication of a 2-Digit numbers by 1-Digit Numbers

Without Regrouping

Example : Multiply 167 by 3. H T O

Step 1 : Write the numbers in columns. 1 6 7

Step 2 : Multiply 7 one by 3 ones. x 3

3 x 7 = 21

= 2 tens + 1 one

We can take 1 at the ones place and H T O

2 at the tens place. 2

Step 3 : Now, multiply 6 by 3.

3 x 6 = 1 8

+ 2 (Carried from ones)

2 0 tens = 2 hundreds

Write 3 under the tens column.

Step 4 : Now, the 2 at the hundreds place.

i.e.

Step 5 : Now, multiply 1 by 3.
