7 Division
Division means separating a number into two or more parts.
It is a form of repeated subtraction.
Division has three parts.
Dividend Divisor Quotient
15 ÷ 5 = 3
Dividend Divisor Quotient
The number that is divided is called dividend .
The number by which it is divided is called the divisor .
Quotient is the number that comes out at the end.
There are 18 apples. If you are asked to share equally among your 6
friends, how many will each of you get ? To find your answer, subtract 6
from 18 as many times as possible.

2. each will get two apples. 1 2

3. each will get three apples.

This repeated subtraction shows that each of you

will share three oranges.
It can be written as, 18 ÷ 6 = 3
