Write 4 in tens column.

Step 4 : Then, add 2 hundreds to 0 hundred which gives 2.

Write 2 below the hundreds column.

Therefore, 203 + 42 = 245

With Regrouping

Example : Add 236 and 84.

Step 1 : Arrange the numbers in columns. H T O

Step 2 : Add the digits of ones column. 2 3 6

6 + 4 = 10. + 8 4

Write 1 ten in the tens column 3 2 0

and 0 below the ones column.

Step 3 : Now, add the carried digit 1, 3 and 8 together.

1 + 3 + 8 = 12

Write 1 to the hundreds column and 2 below the tens column.

Step 4 : Add the digits of hundreds column.

1 + 2 = 3

Write 3 below the hundreds column.

Thus, 236 + 84 = 320.
