G too ..... to and enough ..... to pattern can also be used to join the sentences.
Read the following examples:
1. The poem was very difficult. It couldn’t be understood.
The poem was too difficult to be understood.
2. The poem wasn’t very easy. It couldn’t be understood.
The poem wasn’t easy enough to be understood.
G The Participle are Verb-Adjectives ending in -ing.
Read the following examples:
1. reading, dancing, laughing (Present Participle)
2. read, danced, laughed (Past Participle)
Participles can also be used to join sentences.
G Out of the two sentences, the more important one is taken as the main clause and
the verb in the other sentence is converted into a participle.
Read the following examples:
1. He is an Indian. He loves Indian dances.
Being an Indian, he loves Indian dances.
2. I felt tired. So I went to bed early.
Feeling tired, I went to bed early.
G When one action is done before another action, we use ‘having’ (present participle)
for the first action.
Read the following examples:
1. We bought the tickets. We went into the cinema.
Having bought the tickets, we went into the cinema.
2. I informed my parents. I went to the park.
Having informed my parents, I wend to the park.
G When two things happened at the same time, we use -ing (present participle) for one
of the verbs.
Read the following examples:
1. He saw the Principal. He stopped talking.
Seeing the Principal, he stopped talking.
