             1.  This family is not poor anymore. (singular)
             2.  This family are perfectly normal. (plural)

             Gender of Nouns

             There are four genders of nouns. They are:

                  Masculine Gender                         Feminine Gender

                  Common Gender                            Neuter Gender


             G  Masculine gender refers to males. For example: father, son, king, etc.
             G  Feminine gender refers to females. For example: mother, daughter, queen, etc.

             G  Common gender could belong to either sex (male or female). For example: teacher,
                  friend, pupil, etc.

             G  Neuter Gender refers to lifeless objects. For example: table, book, pen, etc.

             Compound Nouns

             Compound nouns are made of more than one word, such as –
                  bulletin board           film star                 personal computer             bookworm

                  race course              water tank                address book                  bedroom

                  swimming pool            can opener                motorcycle                    credit card
                  policemen                dining table              fairy tale                    fire engine
