             A conjunction is a word used to join words, groups of words or sentences.





                   Underline the conjunction in the following sentences.

                   1.  Robert cooked dinner and washed the dishes.

                   2.  I didn’t want pancakes nor waffles for breakfast.

                   3.   He was happy, yet he wanted more.

                   4.  I fell down, so I skinned my knee.

                   5.  I like Coke or Pepsi to drink.

                   6.   I want to go to the beach, for I love to sit in the sun.
                   7.  I wanted green, yet he wanted blue.

                   8.  Rocky barked and ran in circles.









             Conjunctions are special kinds of connectors. They help us to join two clauses together.
             Read the following examples:

                   1.  Yash and     Yashika are siblings.

                   2.  Yash is tall but   Yashika is short.

             Types of Conjunctions
             Conjunctions can be classified into three types. They are:


                   Coordinating Conjunctions                     Correlative Conjunctions

                   Subordinating Conjunctions

             G    Coordinating  Conjunctions  are  used  to  join  two  independent  statements  or  two
                   statements of equal importance.

                   And  , but , so , as well as ,  , or otherwise , for , nor , therefore , etc. are the examples of
                   coordinating conjunctions.
