A verb denotes action or being or possession.

A verb is an important part of a sentence. There can be no sentence without it.
Verbs express:
G an action done by the subject.
Suman sings well.
G what the state of the subject is.
Suman very happy.is
G what is possessed by the subject.
Suman has a green dress.
In above sentences – sings , and is has are verbs. They tell us more about the subject, Suman.
A verb may be made of one word or more words.
Read the following examples:
1. She laughed . (one word)
2. You must do your homework. ( two words)
3. They have been working for many hours. (three words)
