An adjective is a word used to add something to the meaning of a noun

or a pronoun.

I am very
hungry.
These oranges Give me some
are very tasty .
rice please.

My Mother
cooks tasty
food.

A word naming an attribute of a noun, such as sweet, red or technical.

Read the following examples:

1. I saw a big bunglow. 2. Lion is a dangerous animal.
3. Honest men are always respected.

The above coloured words big , dangerous and honest tell us something about bunglow,
animal and men. They are adjectives.

Types of Adjectives

There are six types of adjectives. They are:

Adjectives of Demonstration Adjectives of Interrogation Adjectives of Possession
