G Demonstrative Pronouns are used to point out the object or objects to which they refer.
This that these those such one same, , , , , , and so are used as demonstrative pronouns.
Read the following examples:
1. This is a present from my uncle.
2. These are the pens which are less expensive.
3. That is Abrahm Lincoln’s house.
4. My views are different from those of your friends.
G Indefinite Pronouns refers to persons or things in a general way.
Read the following examples:
1. Many applied but few were shortlisted for the interview.
2. Some of these notebooks are quite useful.
G Interrogative Pronouns are used to enquire about the nouns for which they stand.
Read the following examples:
1. Whose book is this?
2. Who broke the slate?
Note the following facts about the Interrogative Pronouns.
G ‘Who, when, whose’ are used for persons only.
‘What’ is used for things only.
‘Which’ is used for both persons and things.
G ‘Who’ enquires about the name or information; as –
Who is the head of the family?
The answer can be:
The head of the family is Mr Vikas Verma. (Name)
The head of the family is my grandfather. (Family member)
G ‘What’ enquires about occupation or status; as –
What is she?
The answer can be:
She is a teacher. (Occupation)
She is our Principal. (Status)
G ‘Which’ is used to ask for the identity; as –
Which is she?
The answer can be:
