              Bridges

There are many types of bridges. Let’s discuss about them.

              Suspension Bridge

              Suspension bridge has enormous towers
of steel and concrete set into their
foundation. Chains or ropes hang between
              the towers. Footbridges are small

suspension bridges made from wood or
rope which hang over small streams.

              Bamboo Bridge Suspension Bridge

Bamboo bridges are commonly found in villages.

              Cantilever Bridge

A cantilever bridge is a modified form of
the beam bridge. This type of bridge has
              support only on one end.

              Beam Bridge

A beam bridge is the oldest type of
bridge. It consists of a horizontal structure

called a beam which rests on support on
either end. The modern beam bridges are
built of steel and concrete. A long beam Beam Bridge
bridge has many pillars to support the beam.

              Arch Bridge

Arch bridge looks like a semi-circle. It is a

very strong bridge made of semi-circular
arches. Earlier, it was made of stones, but
now steel, concrete and bricks are used.
