A horse cart pulled by two or four horses is called a buggy.
Earlier, a buggy drawn by two or more horses was used by the President of India on
the Republic Day.
Elephants
Elephants are big and strong animals. In ancient
times, kings used to travel on beautifully
decorated elephants.
They used the elephants in wars and for their
personal rides during public processions. Now-
a-days, elephants are used to pull heavy logs of
wood. They can also be seen in jungle Safaris,
weddings and religious processions.

Camels
Camels are used to transport goods and people
across the deserts. No other animals can
survive in the extreme heat of the sandy
deserts. It is only the camel that can travel and
survive without water for many days in hot
regions. That is why camel is known as the
‘Ship of the Desert.’

Bullocks
A bullock-cart is drawn by a pair of bullocks.
It is used to carry goods.
Ponies and Yaks

g Ponies and Yaks are used to carry loads in the hilly areas. Ponies are also
used as a means of transport.
g Reindeers are used to pull sledges in snowy areas.
