place to another. To travel long

distances, human tamed animals
as modern transport facility was
invented later.

Let us study about the animals
used for transport.

Animals have been very helpful to the human beings. Humans used them for

transportation. We use them to go from one place to another, to pull heavy
loads, to ride and even for various sports.
Use of Animals For Transport

Horses

Before the invention of engines, horses were a
very common means of transport in India as

well as in Europe. A horse could carry man as
well as his loads over long distances. During
wars, even the soldiers moved on the backs of Tonga
horses in the battlefield.

Horse riding messengers were used to send

urgent messages from one place to another.
Even today, horse carts are very popular in
some areas. Horse carts are of many shapes and
sizes. A horse cart pulled by a single horse is

called a tonga.
