Subtraction on the Number Line

Example : Subtract 9 from 16.

Step 1 : First, jump on the number 16.

Step 2 : Then, move 9 steps backward.

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20

You will reach at 7, the difference of the numbers.

So, 16 – 9 = 7

Now, look at another example.

8 – 4
