Addition of 2-Digit Numbers with 2-Digit Numbers

Without Regrouping

Adding two digit numbers is same as adding one digit numbers.

Let us know how.

Example : Add : 16 + 12 First, add

the ones, i.e., 6 + 2 = 8

Then, add the

tens, i.e., 1 + 1 = 2 2 8

The correct sum
+ 1 2
will be 28.
2 8

Now, look at the following.

Step 1 : First, add the ones.

6 ones + 2 ones = 8 ones

Write 8 in the ones place.

Step 2 : Then, add the tens.

1 ten + 1 ten = 2 tens

Write 2 in the tens place.

Therefore, 16 + 12 = 28.
