G  When  ‘full’  is  added  to  another  word,  drop  one  ‘l’.  But  when  fully  is  added,
                  retain ‘ll’.
                  Read the following examples:
                       faith + full = faithful                            faith + fully = faithfully

                       pain + full = painful                              pain + fully = painfully
             G  Adjectives ending in ‘e’ add ‘ly’ to form their adverbs.

                  Read the following example:
                       sore + ly  =  sorely
             G  Words ending in s, ss, ch, x, z, o, sh, add es.

                  Read the following examples:
                       splash – splashes                                  watch – watches

                       buzz – buzzes                                      lens – lenses
                       go – goes                                          fox – foxes
             G  Nouns ending in vowel + o          , double o’s end in s.

                  Read the following examples:
                       kangaroo – kangaroos                               stereo – stereos

             G  With nouns ending in   or   drop f or fe and add ves.f  fe
                  Read the following examples:
                       handkerchief – handkerchieves                      knife – knives

             G  When words end in silent  , apply the following rules while adding suffixes to such e
                  words.
                  1.  If there is a consonant before the final  , and a suffix is added beginning with a e

                        vowel, drop the final  .e
                       Read the following examples:
                            write + ing = writing                         hope + ed = hoped

                  2.  If there is another vowel before the final e, the e is usually dropped.
                       Read the following examples:

                              agrue + ing = arguing                       continue + ous = continuous
                       but  age + ing  = ageing                           agree + ing = agreeing
                              toe + ing  =  toeing                        see + ing = seeing

                  3.  If a suffix is added beginning with a consonant, keep the final ‘e’.
                       Read the following examples:
                              hope + ful = hopeful                        nine + ty = ninety

                       but  argue + ment = argument                       idle + ly = idly
                              gentle + ly = gently                        awe + ful = awful
