retain ‘ll’.

1. If there is a consonant before the final , and a suffix is added beginning with a e
vowel, drop the final .e

2. If there is another vowel before the final e, the e is usually dropped.
Read the following examples:
agrue + ing = arguing continue + ous = continuous
but age + ing = ageing agree + ing = agreeing
toe + ing = toeing see + ing = seeing
3. If a suffix is added beginning with a consonant, keep the final ‘e’.
