G The third person pronouns like he, she, him, his, her, hers, they, them, their,
theirs, it, its do not change .
5. The words showing time and place are also changed. Nearness of time and place in
active voices is changed to distance of time and place in passive voice.

6. Imperative Sentences
When a command or a request in direct speech changes into indirect speech:
G The reporting verb is changed to order, advise, request, command or any other
word according to the sentence.
Direct: “Close this window,” said the employer to his servant.
Indirect: The employer ordered his servant to close that window.
Direct: Neetu said to me, “Please help me.”
Indirect: Neetu requested me to help her.
7. Interrogative Sentences
A question in direct speech changes into indirect speech as follows:
G The reporting verb is changed to ask, demand, inquire, etc.
G If the question begins with a question word, the same word is used to
introduce the reported speech.
G A conjunction ‘if’ or ‘whether’ is used to introduce the reported speech if the
question begins with a helping verb.
