Simple Present Tense
Simple present tense indicates that an action takes place in present.
This tense is used to make general statements and habitual actions.
G It also states a fact that never changes.
Read the following examples:
1. I am a student.
2. The Sun rises in the east.
G It is also used to talk about something which is true in the present time but
may change later.
Read the following examples:
1. The baby cries loudly.
2. Her clothes are clean.
G It is also used to talk about routines or habits.
Read the following examples:
1. We go to school everyday.
2. He eats breakfast at 8:00 a.m. daily.
In simple present tense, we take the root form of the verb. But sometimes we add
-s or -es at the end of the verb.
G We use the root form of the verb with I, we, you, they and all plural subjects.
Read the following examples:
1. Sumit and Rahul play badminton on Sundays.
2. I brush my teeth.
G We add or -s -es to the root form of the verb with he, she, it and all singular
subjects.
Read the following examples:
1. Ishu obeys her parents.
2. He brushes his teeth.
