Adverbs are words that modify and add to the meaning of verbs, adjectives and
other adverbs.
G To form regular adverbs, add -ly to most adjectives.
G Adjectives ending in change to -y -ily .
G Adjectives ending in -ie drop the and add .-e -y
There are mainly four types of adverbs. These are:
Adverb of Manner Adverb of Place
Adverb of Time Adverb of Frequency
G Adverb of manner tells us how something happens. They are placed after the
verb.
Read the following examples:
1. She sang beautifully .
2. Gaurav walks slowly .
G Adverb of place tells us where something happens.
Read the following examples:
1. Is your father sitting outside ?
2. The books are kept behind .
G Adverb of time tells us when and how often an action takes place.
Read the following examples:
1. The train had left before I arrived.
2. Will you come tomorrow ?
G Adverb of frequency tells us how often something happens.
Read the following examples:
1. We never tell lies.
2. Sometimes , I forget answers.
