A noun is a naming word which is the name of a person, place, animal or
thing.

There are mainly two types of nouns. These are:
Common Nouns Proper Nouns
G Common Nouns : A name given in common to persons, places, animals
or objects are known as a common noun .
Read the following examples:
1. The baby is asleep on the cot .
2. My house is big.
3. The boy lives in a big city .
The coloured words are common nouns.
G Proper Nouns : The specific or particular names of persons, places, animals
or things are called proper nouns . Proper nouns always begin with a
capital letter.
Read the following examples:
1. Karthik and Ruhaani saw the Taj Mahal in Agra .
2. Ramesh lives in Mumbai .
3. Simar is a good singer.
The coloured words are proper nouns.
