2                    Indian Currencies







            The  Indian  rupee  is  the  official  currency  of  the  Republic  of  India.  The

            issuance of the currency is controlled by the Reserve Bank of India. RBI has
            introduced two new currencies ` 2000 and ` 200. It has also redesigned the

            currencies of ` 500,  ` 50, ` 20 and  ` 10.

              Let us know about the features of ` 2000 note.

              D  To attest its originality, the note has the denominational numeral 2000 written in
                  the Devnagri script and ‘RBI’ and 2000 written in micro letters on its left side.

              D  It has a security thread with the inscription ‘Bharat’ in Devnagri and RBI and
                  2000 with colour shift. The colour of the thread changes colour when the note is
                  tilted, confirming its originality.

              D  It  has  the  Ashoka  Pillar  Emblem  appearing  on  the  right  side  of  the  Mahatma
                  Gandhi Portrait.

              D  For  the  convenience  of  the  visually  impaired,  it  comes  with  seven  bleed  lines
                  and a rectangular shape. It has magenta base colour.
