“Hey, Robbi! Come here!”
“Yes, Sunny, what can I do for you?” Asks Robbi as it comes and stands before me.
“I want to ask some questions about your family.”
“Yes, you may please!”
“What does the word ‘robot’ mean?”
“Good question!” Says Robbi, and
continues, ‘The word ‘robot’ - Sunny, you’ll
be surprised to know - has been derived from
the Czech word ‘robota.’ It means ‘slave’ in
Czech language. The word was first used by
the Czech writer Karel Capek in his play
Rossum’s Universal Robots way back in 1921!”
“Oh, way back in 1921?”
“Yes, Sunny!”
“What was the play about? Can you give me some idea?”
“Yes, why not Sunny? In the play, a group of mechanical slaves or robots rebel against
their human masters.”
“Oh that sounds dangerous!” rebel : oppose
“But, that is not possible now.” Says Robbi.
