C. Edit the following passage.
In 261 BC, Ashoka attacks Kalinga but the defendants put so a valiant resistance that what
follows was a massacre. Ashoka looks at the death and destruction by horror, although he
had won the war still he was deeply hurt. In one of his edict, he describes it thus, “One
hundred thousand were captured one hundred and fifty thousands were slain and many
time as many died.”
