Difference between a shadow and an image:

                                   Shadow Image

               1. The shadow is always black 1. Image is similar to the object in the

irrespec ve of colour. colour of the object.
               2. A shadow is similar to the object in 2. The image is also similar to the shape

                    shape. of the object.

               3. The size of the shadow depends upon 3. The size of the image of an object is
the object and distance between the similar to the object.
source of light and the object.

REGULAR AND IRREGULAR REFLECTION Regular reflec on takes place in water,

When you see your face in a mirror, your mirror and polished metals.
face appears clearly in the mirror, but when Irregular Reflec on : When the beam of

the plate. We can classify the reflec on of reflec on.
various objects into regular reflec on and

              irregular reflec on.
Regular Reflec on : When the beam of light

strikes on smooth and polished surface and
bounces off in a definite direc on, such
reflec on is called regular reflec on.

Transparent materials : Materials which allow light to pass through them

Translucent materials : Materials which allow a small amount of light to pass through them
Opaque materials : Materials which do not allow light to pass through them
