Example : Find the product of 64321 and 84. 6 4 3 2 1
Solution : Step 1 : Multiply 64321 by 4 ones. × 8 4
64321 × 4 = 257284 2 5 7 2 8 4
Step 2 : Multiply 64321 by 8 tens. + 5 1 4 5 6 8 0
64321 × 80 = 5145680 5 4 0 2 9 6 4
Step 3 : Add the products.
257284 + 5145680 = 5402964
Multiplying a 5-Digit Number by a 3-Digit Number
Example : Multiply 84326 by 428. 8 4 3 2 6
Solution : Step 1 : Multiply 84326 by 8 ones. × 4 2 8
84326 × 8 = 674608 6 7 4 6 0 8
Step 2 : Multiply 84326 by 2 tens. + 1 6 8 6 5 2 0
84326 × 20 = 1686520 + 3 3 7 3 0 4 0 0
Step 3 : Multiply 84326 by 4 hundreds. 3 6 0 9 1 5 2 8
84326 × 400 = 33730400
Step 4 : Add the products = 674608 + 1686520 + 33730400
= 36091528
