Addition of More Than Two Numbers
How addition can be done with multiple addends ?
Let’s look at the concepts that are used with multiple addends.
1 2
12 + 34 + 43 = ? or 3 4
+ 4 3
?
When you add 2-digit and 3-digit numbers, you start with the ones column.
The same rule applies if you are adding three values.
Start with the ones. From the above example, you would add 2 + 4 + 3 = 9.
This is a nice clean problem with no carrying.
Your answer for the ones column is nine (9). Then, you move to the tens
column.
1 + 3 + 4 = 8 gives you a tens value of eight (8). Put it all together and you
get the sum 89. Thus, 12 + 34 + 43 = 89.
