We can add these numbers in another way.

Adding ones : 8 + 9 = 17 ones

Carry 1 ten to the tens.

Adding tens : 1 + 8 + 2 = 11 tens

1 hundred 1 ten

Carry 1 hundred to the hundreds.

Adding hundreds = 1 + 2 + 4 = 7 hundreds

\ 288 + 429 = 717
