Example : Divide 84 by 4

Step 1 : Arrange 84 and 4 is division from. – 8

Step 2 : Start from tens place i.e. 8

\ 8 ÷ 4 = 2 0

Write the product ( 4 × 2 = 8) below the

tens place and subtract ( 8 – 8 = 0).

Write 2 as quotient.

Step 3 : Bring down the ones digit i.e. 4 and divide

\ 4 ÷ 4 = 1

Step 4 : Write 1 as quotient in the ones place.

Write the product ( 4 × 4) below the

ones and subtract 4 from 4 i.e. 4 – 4 = 0

\ 84 ÷ 4 = 21
