                                 ÷ = × =

                          8 × 9 = 72 35 ÷ 7 = 5

                                 ÷ = × =

                          9 × 7 = 63 49 ÷ 7 = 7

                                 ÷ = × =

Division of 2–Digit Numbers by 1–Digit Numbers

            Short Method

            Example : Divide 15 ÷ 3

15 is divided and 3 is divisor.

            Using multiplication fact 3 × 5 = 15 , we get 15 ÷ 3 = 5 therefore 5 is

            the quotient
            Long Method

Let us divide 15 by 3 using long division method.

                                                          5 Quotient

                                            3 1 5 Dividend

                                                       – 1 5

                                                           0 0 Remainder

                                                         \ 15 ¸ 3 = 5
