             G    Uses of Present Perfect Continuous Tense.

                  It is used —
                      ·  to express an action that began in the past and has been in progress till the time
                       of speaking.

                      ·  to express an action that finished just a short while ago.

                  Read the following examples:
                       1.  I have been studying       Grammar since 5 O’clock.

                       2.  She has been watering        the plants. She has stopped watering now

             G    Uses of Since    and For  .

                      ·  Since  is used to suggest the point of time at which an action started.

                       Read the following examples:
                            1.  Mrs Dhawan has been teaching the students since 8:00 a.m                .

                            2.  I have been waiting for the guests since morning          .

                  ·    For is used to suggest the period of time for which an action has been going on.
                       Read the following example:

                            Mrs Dhawan has been teaching the students for three hours             .

             We  often  get  confused  between  the  usage  of  present  continuous  tense  and  present
             perfect continuous tense.

             Read the following examples:

             1.  Don’t disturb me. I am writing.
                  (Emphasis is on the fact that I am writing. Emphasis is on the activity.)

             2.  I am tired. I have been working for quite some time.

                  (Emphasis is on the fact that I have been working for quite some time. Emphasis is on
                  the duration.)
