             Omission of The
             The is not used with languages and relations.

             Read the following examples:

                  1.  Father gave me a gift on my birthday.
                  2.  French is difficult to learn.

             But, when the nouns are used as particular ones, the           is used.

             Read the following examples:
                  1.  The dinner     we had at the restaurant was very good.

                  2.  Would you pass the salt      ? (the salt on the table)

             The is not used with proper nouns, abstract nouns and material nouns.

             Read the following examples:
                  1.  Washington DC is the capital of USA.

                  2.  Carrots are rich in Vitamin A.

             Repetition of The

             Read the following examples:
                  1.  The    author and the    editor have   been honoured.

                  2.  The    author and editor has     been honoured.

             In  the  sentence  1,  the     is  used  twice  because  we  speak  of  two  different  people.  In
             sentence 2, the     is used once because we refer to the person who is an author as well as
             an editor.
