Present Perfect Tense is used to –
G denote an action that has been completed recently.
Read the following examples:
1. I have just seen the book.
2. He has finished his job.
G denote an action which was completed in the past but its effect can be felt at the
time of speaking.
Read the following examples:
1. I have eaten my lunch.
2. He has purchased a horse.
We will now study the forms of Past Perfect Tense.
G had + past participle form of the verb + .......... .
Read the following examples:
Positive: I had reached . She had reached .
Negative: I had not reached . She had not reached .
Interrogative: Had I reached ? Why had she not reached ?
Past Perfect Tense is used to –
G denote an action that was completed before a given past time.
Read the following examples:
1. She had cleaned the house before the guests arrived.
2. The patient had died before the doctor come.
G state that a past hope, desire, intention, etc. was not realised.
Read the following example:
She had expected that she will be invited to the party.
We will now study the forms of Present Perfect Continuous Tense.
G have/has + been + -ing form of the verb + ....... .
Read the following examples:
Positive: I have been jumping. She has been skipping.
Negative: I have not been jumping . She has not been skipping .
Interrogative: Have you been jumping ? Has she been skipping ?
Present Perfect Continuous Tense is used to –
G denote an action that began in the past and continued till the time of speaking.
