G     A noun that gives a common name to a person, place or thing of the same kind is
                   called a common noun       .
                   Read the following example:

                         Which car    do you have? (any car)

             G     A noun which names a particular person, place or
                   thing is called a proper noun     .

                   Read the following example:
                         I live in Rajasthan . (particular city)

             G     A collective noun     is the name of a collection of persons or things taken together and
                   spoken of as one whole.

                   Read the following example:
                         There was a herd     of elephants in the sugarcane field.

             G  An abstract noun        is the name given to a quality, concept, feeling, idea or event. It is

                   the name of a thing which we can’t see or touch but can only feel.
                   Read the following example:

                         Rani Lakshmibai is known for her bravery        .

             Following are some abstract nouns:
             Quality:  honesty, wisdom, kindness, brightness

             Action:  movement, hatred, laughter, theft
             State:      sickness, childhood, youth, slavery, sleep


             G  Material noun        is a substance or a material which is used for making things.
                   Read the following example:

                         This window is made of glass      .
