13 Diseases and Agents
A disease is an illness which affects people, animals or plants for example one which is
caused by bacteria or infection.
Bacteria is a large group of unicellular micro-organisms which get their nourishment
from the dead and decaying organisms.
Protozoa is a group of invertebrates, usually single-celled organism ranging from
plant-like forms to those behaving like animals.
Virus is an extremely small obligate parasite which can multiply only in a living cell of
a plant or an animal.
Fungus are the primitive members of the plant family which cause diseases in plants,
animals and human beings.
Names of some of the common human diseases are given below. Write the names of
the agents which cause these diseases.
