Tie and Dye
It is speciality of Rajasthan and is also called bandhani. Areas of clothes
are tied up very tightly so that dye does not reach those areas. The rest
of the clothes are dye. The tied-up areas shows patterns.
Kalamkari
The designs are painted on the clothes with a special type of Kalam
(pen). Bihar is best known for this work.
Block Printing
Wooden blocks are dipped into paint and
pressed onto the clothes to make patterns.
Embroidery
Needle and thread is used for embroidery.
Colourful threads create patterns on clothes.
Zalakdozi of Jammu and Kashmir, Phulkari of
Punjab and Kantha work of West Bengal are
different kinds of embroidery.

Woman wear salwar-kameez with dupatta and men
wear dhoti and kurta.
