Opening and Existing File
Most of the time, you’ll want to start by opening an existing photo rather than creating a new
blank image. Photoshop allows you to open and edit existing image files, including JPEG,
PNG and PSD files.

To open an existing file.
1. Select File option and then click on
Open.
The Open dialog box will appear.
2. Type the name of file to be opened in
File name box. Instead of typing the
name, you may select the file name
from the list using drop down arrow
in File name box.
3. Click on Open button.
The specified file is opened.
Working with Tools and Other Panels
The Tools Panel
The Tools panel , where you select different tools for
editing images, is one of the most important features in
Photoshop. Once you’ve chosen a tool, you will be able
to use it with the current file.
Your cursor will change to reflect the currently selected
tool.
