8 Speed : E-mails typically arrive within seconds or minutes.
8 Attachments : We can attach any file on our computer to an e-mail
message. It is easy to send a long master’s thesis
around the world as it is to e-mail spreadsheet, a
report or pictures.
Features of Using E-mail
8 It’s quick—your recipient receives your e-mail as soon as they go online
and collect their mail.
8 It’s secure.
8 It’s low cost.
8 Photos, documents and other files can be attached to an e-mail so that
more information can be shared.
8 One e-mail can be sent to more than one recipient at a time.
E-mail Address
To use an e-mail, a user must have an e-mail address, which you create by
adding your user name to the e-mail server’s domain name.
E-mail addresses use a standard formula. They are always separated into two
parts by the @ symbol.
The first part of the e-mail address usually identifies us in some way. We might
have our real name for the part of our e-mail address or we could use a handle
or a nickname that our friends and family will recognise.
The second part of an e-mail address usually comes from our webmail provider
or the internet service provider we use. If we are e-mailing someone and they or
their business has a website, we will see that the second part of their address
uses part of their website address.

Usernames often contain numbers and shortened versions of a name to
prevent duplicates.
