ENIAC

The ENIAC was the first general-purpose modern electronic computer. It

was built in 1944 by JP Eckert and John Mauchly. It was, however very big

in size, consumed a lot of electricity and gave out a lot of heat.

             Computer Generations

Each generation of computer is characterised by a major technological

development that fundamentally changed the way computers operate,

resulting in increasingly smaller, cheaper, more powerful and more efficient
and reliable devices. Electronic computers are mainly classified into five

             generations. These are:

                                                 Computer Generations

              1st Generation 3rd Generation 5th Generation

                                  2nd Generation 4th Generation

             Types of Computers

Since the advent of the first computer, different types and sizes of
computers are offering different services. Computers can be as big as

occupying a large building and as small as a laptop or a microcontroller in

             mobile and embedded systems.
