TEMPERATE DECIDUOUS FORESTS
Temperate deciduous forests can be found in the
eastern parts of the United States and Canada,
most of Europe and parts of China and Japan.
The temperate deciduous forest is a biome that is
always changing. It has four distinct seasons —
winter, spring, summer and autumn. Winters are
cold and summers are warm. Temperate decidu-
ous forests get between 30 and 60 inches of
precipitation a year. Precipitation in this biome

population centers in it. They are found in North Australia, Central
America, Brazilian Highlands, Paraguay,
Argentina, Sudan, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, etc.
Here, temperature remains high and the rainfall
is variable from 25 cm to 75 cm. This amount of
rainfall gives growth to rough, tough and tall
grass with scattered trees.

Temperate grasslands are found in southern parts
of Canada, Central USA, Argentina, Central
Russia and Southern Africa and Australia. They

warm summers and cool winters, plus sufficient
rainfall to enable the forest to thrive. A coniferous
forest biome is chiefly made up of cone-bearing
or coniferous trees, for example, Pines, Fir,
Hemlocks, Spruces, Cedars, Cypresses,
Redwoods, Yews, Douglass Firs, Larches and
Kauris. Coniferous trees are characterised by
either small and needle-like or scale-like leaves
and majority remains green throughout the year.
These coniferous tree types are softwoods, which
means they have the ability to get by in cold
temperatures and acidic soils. Temperate Grasslands
