TEMPERATE DECIDUOUS FORESTS

Temperate deciduous forests can be found in the
eastern parts of the United States and Canada,
most of Europe and parts of China and Japan.
The temperate deciduous forest is a biome that is
always changing. It has four distinct seasons —
winter, spring, summer and autumn. Winters are
cold and summers are warm. Temperate decidu-
ous forests get between 30 and 60 inches of
precipitation a year. Precipitation in this biome
                                                                                    Coniferous Forests
happens year-round. Because the soil is very
fertile and hardwood trees are good for building, TROPICAL GRASSLANDS
this biome has some of the world’s largest They are often known as savanna grasslands.

Coniferous forest is a kind of biome situated in
Africa. Here, short grass grows with scattered
temperate regions of the globe that experience
                                                                    trees.
warm summers and cool winters, plus sufficient
rainfall to enable the forest to thrive. A coniferous
forest biome is chiefly made up of cone-bearing
or coniferous trees, for example, Pines, Fir,
             Hemlocks, Spruces, Cedars, Cypresses,
Redwoods, Yews, Douglass Firs, Larches and
Kauris. Coniferous trees are characterised by
either small and needle-like or scale-like leaves
and majority remains green throughout the year.
These coniferous tree types are softwoods, which
means they have the ability to get by in cold
temperatures and acidic soils. Temperate Grasslands
