6 Multiplication
Looking Back
Multiplication is repeated addition.
It is a fast way of adding a series of numbers.
If we add 5 four times, we get 20 as sum.
5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20
A quicker way to find the sum, we multiply 4 by 5.
4 × 5 = 20
Look at the following.
3 + 3 + 3 +3 = 4 times 3 = 3 × 4 = 12
4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 5 times 4 = 4 × 5 = 20
