13 Data Handling

A chart showing different shapes was

hung on the wall of class 2. The

teacher asked the children as to

which shape occurred the most

number of times and which the least?

The children started counting the

shapes and most of them gave wrong

answers as they counted a shape

twice or thrice. But one child gave all

correct answers. The teacher went up to her. The child had made a table

like this. Each time she saw the shapes, she put a tick mark in front of it

and finally counted the number.

So, the number of circles is greatest, that is, 5 and number of rectangles

the least, that is 1.
